On April 26, 2019 Treasure Island Resort & Casino located in Welch, MN, hosted a live concert with Multi Platinum artist Snoop Dogg.
The show sold out immediately when tickets when on sale. Snoop Dogg is an American rapper, singer, record producer, entrepreneur, and actor who has sold 37 million albums worldwide such as Doggystyle in 1993, a favorite of mine. I grew up listening to this legend, so to see him in person was a privilege and honor, having the ability to share my experience with my readers is even more of a privilege. Making the trip to Treasure Island Resort & Casino was a drive, we took a wrong turn, roads were flooded, but it turned out to be well worth it for the level of live entertainment that this show brought.
It did seem like it was a bit of a stretch for the venue to accommodate a strong hip-hop crowd like this. But all staff worked very hard to provide quality service when things may have exceeded some capacity issue, I mean it was a sold out concert! There was staff throughout the venue assisting concert goers at every turn. Even with a few breaks people moved through the security checkpoints very smoothly and their ticketing system allowed for people to leave out and have a smoke break, refill drinks, and maybe play a couple slots.
When we arrived, we were greeted by event coordinators who helped ensure that my staff and special guest were able to get our press credentials situated and get us through all the press team red tape, they made sure we had space to do our thing, and secured some seating for us. Though even the furthest seat away was still a good look considering the intimate seating space of a 3,000 capacity.
As we walked in to the actual venue space itself we could hear the end of Dogg Pound Gangtaz (DPG) performing their brief set. They had opened the night with all their non Snoop Dogg tracks which was dope to see them be able to get their time in cause they really do have skillz and hits! They also came back out on stage later with Snoop to perform their classics together.
Warren G ran late after his show in Houston, Texas and took a drive up 35 to make it to Treasure Island Casino. So as soon as he arrived and got fresh he immediately started his set with a series of hits, including several songs mixed like "In Da Club" in for the crowd to sing along and dance to. He notably ran through all of his hits with Nate Dogg in a sort of homage to the late R&B/Hip-Hop artist. Warren G also had a moment of silence for Nipsey Hussle, then he made a dramatic exit with "Last Time That I Checked" by Nipsey Hussle. Then exited the stage.
Snoop Dogg came on stage super smooth running through a couple songs and leading right in to "Living My Best Life". His stage performance was very commanding and had all the extra bells and whistles for stage theatrics to get things extra turnt up. He even had the cartoon dog from the cover art of his album, doggy style, live on stage along with all of DPG'z, jumbo screens, and live pole dancers!
I really applaud he venue for hosting such a versatile genre of entertainment acts. I will be back for future shows. I recommend attending a concert at Treasure Island Resort & Casino in their upscale event center. They definitely know how to turn a concert into an incredible memorable event.
