After finally getting a moment to process all the excitement and growth in our coalition network we had from Juneteenth, we are ready to give the community of Mankato another family friendly event. The Minnesota Hip Hop Coalition is very excited to curate another authentic and memorable experience with each and every one of you!

We have so many things to be proud of for our August 17th event and all thanks to the support of businesses and organizations in Mankato as well as artists from both our community and nearby areas. If you have been to one of our community engagements before, you will notice a couple enhancements for next Saturday. We have added a little more variety in the programming, and in doing so, we want to hear your thoughts about it.

Before we delve into the event itself, we want to be sure to give a huge shout out to those who are specifically supporting this event! A big thank you to:

  • Greater Mankato Diversity Council
  • Twin River Council for the Arts
  • MSU – Institutional Diversity
  • MSU – Affrican American Affairs
  • Mankato Fire Department
  • Mankato Police Department
  • Pub 500
  • Jake’s Stadium Pizza
  • Pizza Ranch

Vendors

Just like we had at Juneteenth, we have a few vendors who will be present August 17th also. These people all desire to connect more to our community and wanted the opportunity to let people know of their services.

  • CADA House
  • Northside Hair. Co
  • MSU – African American Affairs
  • Mirrored Images Beauty Salon

Discussion Panel

As mentioned before, we are happy to be adding more elements to our events. We believe that much can be accomplished with changing things up a bit. With that being said, we have created a guest panel. We wanted to get more than just one or two opinions from local community members, so we reached out to prominent individuals throughout the Twin Cities to get their perspectives as well about bridging community efforts. The following individuals have joined us for this months discussion panel:

  • St Paul Slim
  • Alphonso Fleming Jr.
  • Lynatvius Graces
  • DJ Shoba
  • Julio Zelaya

Workshops

Another added element will be workshops. These workshops are intended to be 15min and anyone can be involved (just like with the performances). MN-HHC wanted to make sure that we could open up more opportunities for people right in our community to share knowledge on topics that they are passionate about and want to share with others. So we will have our first workshops made available by:

  • Edrence Yalley – Mapping Out Goals
  • Valerie Hines – Differences In Residual & Passive Income

Live Performances By
