 A Balloon Lyft Pic 5

With the unofficial end of summer, students back in school, Labor Day Weekend coming to a close, and last days of the State Fair, the Minnesota Hip Hop Coalition took this time to make a great step in supporting our youth!

The City Of Minneapolis has opened up space for the MN Hip Hop Community via the Minneapolis YCB Youth Outreach Team. This is a PRIME DOWNTOWN PROPERTY (yes.. the old bus stop right on the corner of N 3rd St. & Hennepin) now called "Inner City Hall" that The Minnesota Hip Hop Coalition (MN-HHC) can utilize to teach the youth Hip Hop Culture!!

So MN-HHC imeadiately reached out to various Hip Hop Community Memebers for help in taking direct action and to utilize this space for our communities young people. What developed was an event called "Fly, Fresh, & Responsible" that was just the kick off to new September programing for youth as they transition back to school.

YCB Outreach Team Members also organized a new Balloon Lyft Campaign in response to their work with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) towards Youth Violence & Teen Dating Violence Awareness. Pearll Warren (YCB Northside Team Lead) spoke to the crowd about this very special effort.

Youth Farm was there to provide free food which was a fantastic salad bar with homemade chicken gumbo that helped to serve over 350+ plates of food throughout the afternoon! Youth Farm is a well established community organization providing healthy food options, resources, as well as developing long term sustainable healthly food related projects.

Minneapolis Mehndi & Henna is a wonderful small business that is determined, hard working, and most of all creative! They were on-site providing their talents for those who have always wanted to try Henna but never really had access to it.

TC Elite Training School, lead by Tyrone Carter, 11 Yr NFL Veteran, 2-Time Super Bowl Champion (Pittsburgh Steelers '06 & '09), 2-Time Collegiate All-American & 1999 Jim Thorpe Award Winner, brought out his whole TC Elite Training School family to help pass out backpacks that they donated to youth throughout the day. They were able to donate 100 backpacks filled with school suppies to youth k-12 who were in need!
