Dilla Day 2018 Banner 1

Hip hop culture has consistently helped generations of youth use their creativity for something tangible, positive, and productive. We are reaching out to you as someone who believes in the power and vibrancy of Hip Hop Culture to become a sponsor of the 2018 Twin Cities Dilla Days.

Dilla Days honors the legacy of Hip Hop icon James Dewitt Yancey, known as J. Dilla or JayDee, a child musical prodigy who took the field of music production to new heights before his untimely death from lupus at age 32, in 2006.

We are seeking YOUR Financial Sponsorship to help continue to engage youth through their participation in the Twin Cities Dilla Days. Starting in 2014 as a gathering for a panel discussion about the impact of Dilla's work, Dilla Days is now a dynamic weekend-long event. It has included producer beat battles, educational seminars, cultural performances, yoga, book readings, and performances by Twin Cities' local artists and international acts, such as Illa J, Edo G, and Prince Po (OK).

Dilla Day in the Twin Cities is produced in partnership with the James Dewitt Yancey Foundation and The Twin Cities Dilla Day Committee. The James Dewitt Yancey Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2006 by Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey in honor of her son, for "enhancing and developing urban music programs in inner-cities."

The foundation honors his legacy by opening doors for youth worldwide with national and international chapters. The Twin Cities Dilla Day Committee is the dedicated team in Minnesota that coordinates celebrations of James's legacy with regular events throughout the year for youth and adults, the highlight being the annual Dilla Days celebrations.

The Twin Cities Dilla Day has been fortunate to receive support from local community members, and now is looking to expand that support to other organizations, artists, and individuals who share our vision to open new opportunities for our youth through Hip Hop Culture.

All contributions are welcome, and are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Contributions of $50 and more will be acknowledged through different sponsorship levels that include promotional opportunities and free event passes. Please see theSponsorship Level Form for more information.
