The Minnesota Hip Hop Coalition is proud to announce our new Active Business Member Brewhouse Recording Studio!!
Brewhouse has been a studio since 1954, making it one of the longest continuously running recording studios in the United States. Brewhouse is owned by the Lead Engineer Rob Genedak who has worked on countless projects for some of Minneapolis’s most established musicians, most notably the Purple one.. Prince.
Studio engineer Zac Harding and manager Thomas Buchanan are currently working out of Brewhouse to attract new talent and help revitalize a recording community within the younger generation. For this reason Brewhouse recognizes the importance that Hip Hop Culture has in these younger generations, having a unified Minnesota Hip Hop Community, and being an Active Business Member in the community.
Here is a short list of the many talented musicians who have worked out of the Facility:
Happy Hip Hop Appreciation Week!!
This goes out to every single Hiphoppa in the state of Minnesota. We are proud to announce that our great state has officially made international Hip Hop history! For the first time in United States history, and Hiphop (consciousness) history, our Hip Hop (culture) has been recognized by a State Governor through an official State Proclamation, presented by The Minnesota Hip Hop Coalition, recognizing Hip Hop Appreciation Week that was signed by Governor Mark Dayton and Secretary Of State Mark Ritchie.
We will be holding a Hip Hop Ceremony at the Minnesota State Capital this Friday May 23rd, 2014 at 12:00pm to honor this monumental occasion with our fellow Hiphoppas in Minnesota. We will be holding a large photo opportunity with any local media and press for those in attendance of this historic moment.
Why Is This State Proclamation Important:
THE 16th ANNUAL HIP HOP APPRECIATION WEEK
MAY 2014 / 19th - 25th
HHAW 2014 THEME
The goal of Hip Hop Appreciaiton Week (HHAW) is to de-criminalize the images of our culture that are presented to the World by the mainstream media. During HHAW, Hiphoppas should amplify the Positive work they’re doing in their community through Hiphop Kulture. As with every HHAW; there is a theme handed down by Hip Hop Kulture's Pioneers as a way to focus Hiphoppa's world-wide on an enriching energy that will help cultivate the growth of this international culture; with this years focus on Heritage.
Heritage is anything that may be inherited, or something that comes; or belongs to one; by reason of birth; "it is also the history that one's children rely upon to define themselves. This year let us meditate on what kind of history we are building for ourselves and for our children." - The Teacha “KRS-One” (Feb 2014)
As part of this years HHAW, we are also including lots of support from a MN-HHC supporter and multi-state grassroots organization called Save The Kids and their newly formed National Week of Action Against Incarcerating Youth as a complimentary energy to this years theme of 'Heritage' for Hip Hop. So contact us about how you can contribute to this years very special "Hip Hop Appreciation Week 2014 Action Against Incarcerating Youth".
In honor of March being Women’s History Month, The Minnesota Hip Hop Coalition is bringing together some of our active members and collective supporters to move ahead with even more support from our diverse community while enriching ourselves with the contributions of Women in the State Of Minnesota.
Facebook Invite: A Hip Hop Gathering: Women's History Month
This event will bring in various Women and Men who are a part of our vibrant Hip Hop Culture here in Minnesota. We will start the event with a Hip Hop Film Screening segment and follow it up with a Questions & Actions Discussion segment where our guest panelists will discuss the issue of "Women / Hip Hop / Products & Services" that will help Women and Men enhance our efforts to nurish and cultivate our Young Women. This discussion concept is based on the 3 spellings and definitions of Hiphop (consciousness), Hip Hop (culture), and hip-hop (products/services) which will expand on previous dialogs regarding our Hip Hop Community becoming more self-aware of the impact we have on Minnesota’s Economy, Health, Education, and Political structures.. but this time with regards to the female experience and their causes.
Following this dialog there will be a Co-Ed group of artists who will bless the event with their talents via a Live Performance segment featuring just a few of Minnesota’s hardest working female artists that will be supported by a great group of Men who wish to utilize their talents and energy to support our Women.
